Ghoncheh received her B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Tehran and her Ph.D. in Physics from Florida State University in 2019. Following her doctoral training, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan before joining Neuro42 as an MRI Scientist and later serving as Lead MRI Scientist at GE Healthcare.
Dr. Amouzandeh's research focuses on the development and translation of advanced MRI technologies, spanning MR physics, pulse sequence programming, image reconstruction, and machine learning for medical imaging. Her work has included the development of novel MRI acquisition and image-processing methods across ultra-high-field, clinical, and portable low-field MRI systems.
Her current research at UCSF is centered on advancing neuroimaging methods for neurosurgical and deep brain stimulation (DBS) applications, with a particular focus on improving visualization and quantitative analysis of deep brain structures. Through collaborations across academia, healthcare, and industry, she aims to translate innovative MRI technologies into practical tools that improve patient care and clinical decision-making.
