Dr. Cork received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Catholic University of America, his M.S. in Bioengineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Stanford University. Following his doctoral training, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Group at Stanford University. Dr. Cork’s research focuses on the development and translation of advanced quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques, spanning MR physics, image processing, and sequence parameter optimization. His Ph.D. work included the development of an open-source toolbox for processing cardiac diffusion tensor imaging (cDTI) to improve image quality, as well as building optimized cDTI protocols for MR systems with moderate gradient performance.

Currently, Dr. Cork’s work at UCSF centers on the intersection of MRI and neuromodulation, specifically deep brain stimulation therapy for Parkinson’s disease. His role involves organizing, processing, and analyzing a large multi-center dataset using robust image processing, statistical, and machine learning techniques.
